Childhood obesity is problem that is becoming a serious health concern across the globe. As we move into high technology industries and mass produced foods this condition is expected to get worse. Here are some childhood obesity statistics:
- It is estimated that over 20 million children under the age of 5 could be classified as obese.
- Over 15% of children ages 6 to 11 are considered obese
- Over 16% of adolescents ages 12-17 are considered obese
- Since 1970 the amount of adolescents considered obese has doubled
- Almost 30% of adolescents report little or minimal daily physical activity
- Over 25% of adolescents report they do no regular physical activity or exercise of any kind.
