Calcium Rich Foods

Everyone especially women and children need to make sure they are getting enough calcium in their diets. Children need to help build strong bones when they are growing and women need to be concerned about losing bone mass because of osteoporosis. For people who are lactose intolerant or just don’t like milk here are some alternative foods that are rich in calcium:
Milk – 352 mg
Orange Juice with Calcium Added – 350 mg
Low fat Yogurt – 336 mg
Low fat Swiss cheese – 269 mg
Collard Greens – 266 mg
Kale – 179 mg
Dandelion Greens – 147 mg
Edamame – 130 mg
Low fat Cottage Cheese – 118 mg
White beans – 96 mg
Many nutritionists recommend taking in 1000 mg of calcium every day. If you find you are coming up short try a calcium supplement that includes vitamin D. combining the calcium with vitamin D will increase the calcium absorption in your body.
