For people who belong to a gym or health club fitness classes can provide a way to break up your exercise sessions and keep your workouts interesting. When you are evaluating different classes, if you haven’t taken similar sessions before, be sure to choose a class that is introductory or beginner level. Many classes require an additional fee. This can be per class or for a longer period of time. Don’t forget to investigate if free introductory lessons are available before you sign up long term.

This helps the instructor know how much if any extra help or attention you will need when you are first starting out. When you are the newcomer you may often find you have time getting them moves down without messing them up or just plain looking uncoordinated and silly. Remember this is natural and just part of the learning curve. The instructor has probably been doing this for many years so they will be perfect. Depending on the expertise of your classmates you may be the least experienced member, so be prepared to not be the most graceful person in the class.

If this is your first class or is a an entirely new type of class for you be prepared to get wiped out. You may find you are exceptionally tired or worn out in the class. Take steps to keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. If you find you do become tired, just walk in place or do the low impact alternative. It’s more important to keep moving instead of suddenly stopping. The after workout cool down is crucial to getting the most out of your exercise sessions.
