You’ve probably heard the phrase that healthy eating begins at home!

Well I’ll make it easy for you. The following are taken from my own selection of favorite healthy cookbooks. I tend to pick cookbooks that contain simple to make, and quick to prepare recipes. I also choose those with bright vivid pictures that tempt my taste buds.

You’ll find that the cookbooks below offer low fat, low calorie dishes of the most natural ingredients – and they’ll offer lower fat options (for instance plain low fat yogurt instead of sour cream, etc.). Ellen Hass created her website foodfit.com to promote healthy living, now she promotes healthy eating in this beautiful, sumptuous cookbook, full of easy-to-make recipes with emphasis on 21 “fit foods” which include fresh veggies, fruits, lean proteins and whole grains.

5 a Day: The Better Health Cookbook, by Elizabeth Pivonka and Barbara Berry, ($16)

The colorful cover of this cookbook just makes me want to sink my teeth into fresh fruits and vegetables. You’ll be impressed that this cookbook targets the hardest palettes – your kids – with vegetable recipes they’ll actually ask for seconds of.
