Breakfast is the MOST important meal of the day!

Yes, it’s time to admit it – mom was dead on. Breaky is the most vital meal of the day.
Why? Because the first meal of your day is key to maintaining a healthy body weight. It basically sets your metabolism (or your fat-burning equipment) for the entire day, and helps you resist temptation when it comes to succumbing to those mid-afternoon snack attacks.

Breakfast is the best thing you can give to your body, but it’s gotta be healthy. Here are my favorite wholesome breakfasts that will keep you fueled and healthy throughout your busy day:

Whole grainy cereals – Look for natural, untreated whole grains – such as quinoa, kamut, spelt, amaranth or good old-fashioned oatmeal. I always say organic is best because it’s made with no or less preservatives (such as salt).

Incorporate some good fats – Good fats, such as Omega 3’s will help the body stay strong, and keep nails and hair strong and shiny. Try adding a teaspoon of flaxseeds or walnuts to your cereal.
Rise to fresh fruits – Berries such as raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries are full of antioxidants and really add a burst of flavor to your cereal. Plus, they have enough natural sugar that you can cut out the fake stuff – and save on calories.

Pack on the protein – The most pure source of protein is an egg white – yes, without the yolk – its low in fat and calories too. Try an egg white omelet with a cup of fruit and whole grain toast.
